Take the Road…

Take the Road…

Take the Road…
A year or so ago, I absentmindedly took a wrong turn and ended up on a little country side road.   As I drove to get back on track to my destination, I noticed a feeling of calm and happiness come over me…there were so many beautiful sites to see!  Rolling fields, cows grazing, and not a car or another person in sight.  This happy accident has ended up turning into what I call my “favorite road”.  I have shared the joy of this road with my boys..and they love it too, squealing with excitement and anxiously watch out the window for all of the wonders to be seen.  Although it’s out of the way, and adds a few minutes to my daily commute – I now make the trip to take this road every day on my way to work.  It’s a little thing I do for “me” every day.  I can’t really explain it, but it calms my me…it helps me choose happiness…and it helps me remember my blessings and to see God in every turn.

There’s beauty on this road in every season…
Winter – the thick snow rolls over the fields for acres, pure and undisturbed, and a million bright sparkles dance over it’s surface in the sunshine…Red Barns shine brightly in contrast with the white snow.
Spring –  You can smell the earth from the freshly plowed fields,  bright green rows of new life peak out of the ground in neat straight lines that seem to go on forever, and sweet baby calves sleep lazily in little huts.
Summer – Corn is high, purple clover flowers blow in the wind, black and white holstiens graze on the rich grass, the sun brightly shines on the silver silo tops.
Fall –  Stalks dried for cow corn set against an orange sky, with colored leaves blowing across the blacktop.
It sounds like just any country road, right?  Maybe…but it’s MY road.  It’s MY peace…and It’s MY way to joy in the midst of the everyday chaos.

So, to the Mama reading this right now – I encourage you…Take the Road…
When you are tired…Take the Road…

When you are anxious….Take the Road

When you are angry…Take the Road

When you are sad…Take the Road

When you are riddled with “Mom Guilt”…Take the Road

When your “to do” list seems impossible…Take the Road

When you need to find yourself…Take the Road

So find your “Road” – whatever that may be, or mean for you. And, use it to get “back on track”.  Use it EVERY day if you have to.  Because at the end of the day – we ALL need something, however big or small, to bring peace to our lives.

Xoxo, Sarah
